11-year-old Driver Crashes Leaving 3 Dead in CA

A California mother and her two children were killed Tuesday after her 11-year-old son crashed into another car while driving.

Porterville Police are still investigating in order to discover an explanation for why 11-year-old Jose Manuel Silva Covarrubias was driving in the first place.

The young boy ran a stop sign while driving then collided into a car. The boy, his mother Maria Silva, and his sister Elizabeth Silva Covarrubias, 6, were unable to survive the accident.

A friend of the family, Froylon Gonzalez, was a passenger in the car and is currently in critical condition. Police have not yet been able to question her.

Silva and her daughter were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to police officials.
