12-Year-Old Boy Killed in Dirt Bike Accident

A 12-year-old boy was killed in a dirt bike accident in Monroe County about 35 miles southwest of Detroit, Michigan.

According to the Monroe County sheriff’s department, Matthew Ulrich, 12, of Saline, was pronounced dead Saturday at the private motocross track in London Township where the accident occurred. Ulrich had been riding his dirt bike when he lost control of the vehicle on loose sand on top of a hill, causing the bike to fall over. While Ulrich attempted to pick up the bike he was struck by another rider, a 19-year-old woman from Monroe.

The woman was not injured in the accident.

Both of the riders involved were wearing helmets and other protective gear. The accident is being investigated.
