17 people were hurt after a six-vehicle accident involving a Trailways bus and a semi truck Tuesday afternoon in Tumwater Canyon, Washington. Fortunately none of the injuries were life threatening.

All of the vehicles that were involved in the accident were traveling eastbound in a construction zone, about nine miles west of Leavenworth. At about 12:10 p.m. Amanda Goble, 22, of Wenatchee, stopped for traffic along with another vehicle driven by Cesar Mora, 18, of Wenatchee. A car driven by Richard Liddell, 46, of Leavenworth, did not manage to stop in time and hit the rear of Mora’s vehicle, which then in a chain-reaction hit Goble’s vehicle, according to patrol.

A car driven by Jefferson Anderson, 40, of Snohomish, and a semi-truck with an empty flatbed trailer, driven by Patrick McKinley, 40, of Wilder, Idaho did stop for traffic in time. However a bus, driven by Herbert Batterson, 62, of Spokane, did not stop in time which resulted in it hitting the semi-truck, pushing the big rig into the other two vehicles. Ten of the 17 people who were injured were transported by ambulance to Cascade Medical Center or Central Washington Hospital with injuries ranging from back, hip and neck pain, to a chipped tooth.

The investigation continues and charges are pending.
