2 Maryland Women Killed by Distracted Driver
Two Maryland women were killed Monday after being hit by a car as they were crossing a street.
The 33-year-old driver, Hyppolite Bouopda, was not paying attention at the time when he hit the two victims. An unidentified 20-year-old woman went through the windshield and into the passenger seat. The other victim, a 63-year-old woman, flew up from the impact then smashed through the top of the car.
Medical crews arrived and rushed the two women to a local hospital, where they were unable to survive their injuries.
Police cited Bouopda for failing to avoid a pedestrian collision.
