7-Year-Old Boy Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident
A 7-year-old boy was killed, and five others injured in two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Colorado.
The accident occurred at the intersection of 5400 Road and Highway 348 around 3 p.m. Sunday. Jose Prieto, 7, of Olathe, was traveling in a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Juan Prieto-Gonzalez, 32, of Olathe, southbound on 5400 Road when they were struck by a 1996 GMC Suburban as they entered the intersection, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Jose Prieto was killed in the accident. Prieto-Gonzalez sustained moderate injuries.
The driver of the SUV, Merced Gonzales Perez, 53, of Delta, and two of his passengers, Araceli Gonzales, 2, and Cesar Gonzales, suffered serious injuries.
After investigations into the accident, Prieto-Gonzalez was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and charged on multiple counts of vehicular assault and vehicular homicide.
