Arizona Man Killed in Car Accident
Pulling out of a shopping center parking lot, a man was fatally hit by a car Wednesday in Mesa, Arizona, and his passenger sustained serious injuries, said Mesa police.
William Fulop, 84, was driving a 2001 silver Plymouth PT Cruiser when he failed to yield and pulled out of the shopping center parking lot when he was hit on the driver’s side door by a 1991 white Dodge Ram van, said police.
Fulop died at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn around 11 p.m. Wednesday from injuries resulting from the accident, stated police. His wife and family were at the hospital with him when he passed away.
His wife, Betty Fulop, 86, was a passenger in the car at the time of the accident and was also taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn with serious injuries.
The driver and passenger of the van had non-life threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals to be treated, said police.
All of the people involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts at the time and police do not believe that speed or impairment played a role in the accident.
