Baby Boy Killed in 22-Vehicle Accident
A baby boy was killed and seven people suffered from non-life-threatening injuries after a 22-vehicle accident on Interstate-15 southbound in Cedar City Thursday night, reported Utah Highway Patrol spokesperson Cameron Roden.
Of the 22 vehicles that were involved in the accident near Iron County-Beaver County line, six were tractor trailers; one of which was carrying 1,000 gallons of fuel and spilled a large amount onto the road. The amount is still not confirmed.
The one fatality was an 18-month-old baby boy from Orem, stated Roden. Seven others involved in the accident were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While the accident was being cleared, vehicles heading southbound took detours on routes 89, 130 and possibly 21, Roden said. The road was cleared by 11:30 p.m. last night.
