Baker County Deputy and Girlfriend Seriously Injured in ATV Accident

A Baker County deputy and his girlfriend suffered serious injuries in an ATV accident in the Osceola National Forest Sunday night.

Deputy Matt Sigers and Ashley Davis, 22, were riding an ATV on Doyle Williams Road when Sigers failed negotiate a curve on the dirt road and lost control of the vehicle. The ATV struck a tree off the roadway, throwing the couple from the vehicle around 9 p.m. Sunday, about 4 miles off county Road 125.

Sigers and Davis, neither of whom was wearing a helmet, were transported to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center suffering serious head injuries.

Sigers is in serious but stable condition. Davis has undergone surgery and is in critical condition.
