Bellevue Man Killed in Car Accident

A Bellevue, Iowa man suffered fatal injuries in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.

Brian C. Petersen, 54, of Bellevue, was driving a Volkswagen Beetle northbound on U.S. 52 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a pickup truck driven by Dennis L. Pregler, 55, of Dubuque.

The impact of the collision caused Petersen’s vehicle spinning off the road and into a pole, ejecting Petersen.

Authorities believe Petersen was driving in the incorrect lane of traffic.

Pregler suffered minor injuries in the accident, which is under investigation.
