Bicyclist Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident

A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident on Judge Ely Boulevard in Abilene, Texas Monday night, according to the Abilene Police Department.

A truck, described by witnesses as a light colored extended cab pickup truck, struck the woman who was riding a bicycle in the northbound lane in the 500 block of North Judge Ely Boulevard at about midnight, Sgt. Doug Wrenn said.

Police are searching for the driver, who drove from the scene of the accident without stopping. Some bystanders who witnessed the accident attempted to chase the pickup down but couldn’t catch up to the vehicle to be successful, he said

The victim is a 33-year-old white female. Her name has not been released, pending family notification, Wrenn said.
