Bicyclist Killed When Struck by Caltrain

A man was killed when he was struck on his bicycle by a Caltrain Friday afternoon near the San Jose Diridon station in California.

The man in his 30’s, whose name has not been released, was reportedly crossing the tracks at the San Jose Diridon station on his bicycle when he was struck by a off-duty Caltrain at about 4:10 p.m. Friday. Reportedly, the crossing gates were down at the time of the accident.

The man was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.

Four trains were delayed because of the collision.

The San Jose Police Department is investigating the accident.
