A Boy Scout camp volunteer was killed in a rafting accident on the Arkansas River in Colorado Thursday.

David Campbell, 49, of Carrollton, Texas, was rafting on the Arkansas river when his raft overturned in a class 3 rapid.

Campbell, a volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Boy Scouts High Adventure Base at Poncha Springs, was pulled from the river unconscious and he was later pronounced dead.

This incident marks the third rafting related death on the Arkansas River this week. Jimmy Nakama, 40, of Littleton, and Thomas Spicknall, 36, of Centennial, drowned Tuesday when they were thrown from a private raft in the Pine Creek Rapids section.
