Building Catches Fire and Injures 4

Four people were injured Thursday when a Washington, D.C. apartment building caught fire.

Authorities arrived on the scene and saw people hanging out the windows of the five-story apartment building. They were getting ready to jump in an attempt to save their lives.

Many people were rescued by fire fighters helping them down on a ladder. The rescue included two children who were injured in the fire and taken to a local hospital. One adult already had a medical condition that was affected by the fire and was taken to the hospital as well. One fire fighter suffered from heat exhaustion while trying to rescue some of the victims.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
