Captain of Fishing Boat Killed in Accident
The captain of the vessel Swell Rider suffered fatal injuries in a fishing boat accident Friday afternoon.
Keenan Stearns, 50, of South Bend, Washington, was the captain on the 73-foot Grays Harbor-based commercial fishing vessel when his body got tangled in the crabbing equipment on board before 5 p.m. Friday.
Rescue crews responded to the scene, about 15 miles west of Grays Harbor, Wash, and transported Stearns to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital, but pronounced him dead before arrival from a head injury.
