College Student Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident
A college student suffered fatal injuries when she was struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross a street in the Bronx early Sunday morning.
Suzette Blanco, 20, was crossing Third Avenue near East 140th Street when she was struck by a northbound car, knocking her into southbound traffic. Then, a southbound minivan, driven by Andrew Echevarria, 20, struck Blanco again and dragged her an unknown distance at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
The driver of the first vehicle never turned themselves in.
Echevarria fled the scene at first but then turned himself in several hours later and was arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a serious accident.
Blanco was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
