Columbia Police Officer Runs Over Man Lying in Road
A Columbia police officer fatally ran over a man lying in the street Saturday night in Columbia, Missouri.
Jeremy W. Setzer, 24, was lying in the westbound lane on Clark Lane when Alan Mitchell, a six-year veteran of the Columbia Police Department, struck him, according to the Columbia Police Department. Setzer was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Mitchell has been placed on paid administrative leave while police investigate the accident. It is unknown when Mitchell may return to duty.
According to Columbia Police Capt. Steve Monticelli, Mitchell was given the leave because he was too distraught to work after the incident.
