Cyclist Injured after being Hit by Texting Driver

A 42-year-old cyclist was injured Monday when a driver wasn’t paying attention and hit the woman.

Lisa Granert was riding down the side of a road when 28-year-old Robert Sharrer swerved onto the shoulder while texting and hit Granert.

Medical crews transported the woman to a local New Jersey hospital for multiple fractures to the face, vertebra, and a leg.

According to police Sharrer was texting about a drug dealer at the time of the accident. Police discovered prescription drugs while searching his vehicle.

Sharrer is facing charges for the intent to distribute drugs and as of now, charges for the accident are still pending.
