Dog Keeps Woman Conscious After Accident
According to officials, a woman’s dog kept her conscious overnight after she was trapped inside her vehicle after a one-vehicle accident in Camden.
Lucille Willson, 72, of Camden, was traveling northbound on Wolcott Hill Road when she fell asleep behind the wheel and her vehicle left the roadway, crossing Waldron Road and striking a stop sign, a National Grid guide wire, and a tree Monday night.
During a routine patrol of the area, Willson was discovered trapped in her car at about 5:35 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies credit Willson’s pet Terrier, Maggie, for keeping her conscious.
Willson had to be extracted from the vehicle and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with severe bleeding, exposure and compound fractures to her legs.
Willson was later transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse where she was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday afternoon.
