Elderly Man Killed in Memorial Day Accident

An elderly man was killed in one-vehicle accident on Memorial Day in Deland.

Robert Levine, 86, of Orange City, was killed when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and drove off the roadway at Detrick and Shapiro streets at about 5:50 p.m. Monday, according to DeLand police Sgt. John Anderson.

Levine was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Investigators are waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Witnesses that called 911 said that Levine’s vehicle crashed into a ditch and he was found unconscious inside.

The accident is under investigation.
