Father Killed, Family Injured in Boat Accident

A father was killed and three others injured when a family from Colorado was involved in a boating accident at Lake McConaughy in western Nebraska.

The family from Parker, Colorado, was boating on a 28-foot-long speedboat in Lake McConaughy Saturday afternoon when the accident occurred. Officials believe it may have been a mechanical problem that caused the boat to overturn and break.

Joseph Drawbaugh, 42, was killed in the accident.

Drawbaugh’s wife, Susan, was transported to Ogallala and then transferred to a Denver hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Drawbaughs’ 15-year-old daughter, Jenny, was also transported to Ogallala suffering a broken leg. Their 10-year-old son, Colton, had a broken arm.
