Faulkner University Football Players Killed in Accident

Two football players at Faulkner University in Alabama were pronounced dead after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 82 early Tuesday morning.

Ryne K. Wilhite, 19, of New Albany, Mississippi and Teirson D. Hollis, 20, of Douglasville, Georgia, were traveling in a Ford Explorer on U.S. Highway 82 when they collided with an 18-wheeler at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday about nine miles east of Maplesville.

The driver of the SUV, Wilhite, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Hollis was transported to UAB with critical injuries and was then pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The two were returning to Montgomery after visiting a friend in Tuscaloosa.

The accident is being investigated by the Alabama State Troopers.
