Five-year-old Dies in Rollover Accident

A Five-year-old boy was killed in a one vehicle rollover accident in Arizona Thursday night, and his 19-year-old mother remains in the hospital after being ejected from the vehicle.

The mother, Citalli Martinez, was driving east on I-10 when she lost control of her Ford Taurus station wagon causing the vehicle to leave the runway and roll over, said Arizona Department of Public Safety. Martinez was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The boy, Daniel Bravo Martinez, was in a car seat on the back passenger’s side, but died from injuries in result of the collision. Firefighters and officers were unable to resuscitate him at the scene and he was declared dead at the local hospital.

The passenger sitting in the front of the station wagon, Alejandro Coronado, 23, suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a local hospital. It is unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
