Former Taylor County Sheriff’s Dept. Employee Killed in Car Accident

A former correctional officer and dispatcher of the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Route 50 Monday morning.

Roy D. Watkins, 70, was attempting to make a turn from Route 50 into Biggie’s Restaurant when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by Shawn Nestor.

Watkins, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nestor was transported to Grafton City Hospital. His condition has not been released.

The accident is being investigated by State Police.
