Four Injured in Multiple Palm Beach Accidents
A Series of accidents occurred this weekend in Palm Beach County, Florida, sending several divers to the hospital.
While snorkeling off the coast south of the Boca Raton inlet around 2 p.m. on Sunday, two women were struck by a boat, stated Police. Nichelle Tran witnessed the accident and said she saw one woman holding her head and bleeding, while the other had a hurt arm. Both women were taken to Boca Community Hospital and are expected to recover.
A second diving incident occurred just hours earlier, when a 77-year-old diver went into cardiac arrest about six miles off the Boynton Beach inlet. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded and were able to revive the woman at the scene by performing CPR. She was taken to Bethesda Hospital.
A third accident occurred on Friday costing a 26-year-old man both of his legs. Robert Murphy Jr. was spear fishing offshore at Sandsprit Park when he was struck with a boat driven by Roger Nicosia, stated investigators. Murphy was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he had to have both of his legs amputated below the knees.
