Four People Injured, Four Flee Scene After Accident
Four people were injured and four other people fled the scene after a two-vehicle accident on West Main Street near Willowbank Place in Rochester early Friday morning.
The impact of the two-vehicle collision pushed one car off the roadway onto the sidewalk, shearing off its front tires and driver’s side door. The four people occupying that vehicle were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The second car involved in the collision came to a rest several hundred feet down the road and caught fire when it collided with a gas station sign. Police believe that there had been four occupants in that vehicle, but they fled the scene by the time police had arrived.
The accident occurred at about 2:20 a.m. Friday. The accident is being investigated by Rochester Police. It is believed that excessive speed was a factor in the accident.
