Four People Injured in Train-Truck Collision
Four people were injured, one seriously, in a collision involving an Amtrak train and a semi truck Friday morning just south of Gainesville on County Road 218.
The Amtrak train was traveling southbound when it struck the pickup truck which was carrying salt walter, according Cooke County Sheriff Mike Compton.
The driver of the truck was transported to a Fort Worth trauma center suffering serious injuries, according to DPS Troopers.
Three passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.
The train, which carried 184 passengers, did not derail. The train’s lead engine was damaged and is back at the Gainesville train station to be repaired.
