High Water Causes Fatal Car Accident

One man was killed in a truck accident caused by high water in Greenwood County Monday night.

Three men were traveling on 200th St, northwest of Quincy, when their truck drove into some water covering the road around 11 p.m. Monday. The current caused the truck to overturn and be carried a quarter mile south.

The driver and one passenger of the truck were able to safely get out of the vehicle.

The body of passenger Joshua L. Smith, 20, of Yates Center, was not recovered until the next morning when waters receded.

The accident is being investigated.
