Kayaker Seriously Injured in Boat Accident

A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a boat-kayak collision on American Lake in Washington March 1.

The city of Lakewood will not file criminal charges against the driver of the boat, McKinley, 34, but gave him a $343 ticket Thursday for negligent boating.

The kayaker, Kenny Ross, 14, suffered a ruptured spleen, broken ribs and a cut in his head in the accident. He has undergone multiple surgeries.
