Kearney Woman Killed in Head-On Collision

A woman suffered fatal injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Buffalo County Thursday morning.

Lori Phillips, 35, of Kearney, was driving eastbound on Highway 30 in a 2004 Mazda van when she collided head-on with a westbound 2000 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by Jeffery Forbes, 40, of Palmer at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday near Kearney.

Phillips was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney where she was pronounced dead.

Forbes was not injured in the accident.

The incident is under investigation.
