Kindergartner Fatally Struck by Bus

A kindergartner was killed Tuesday morning in Gillette, Wyoming when he was hit by a school bus.

It is unsure if the 6-year-old kindergartner was attempting to cross the street or was waiting for the bus when the accident occurred, which is being investigated by Gillette Police. As of yet, no charges have been filed and investigators are currently treating the incident as a tragic accident. It may take several days to determine what the cause of the accident actually was, according to investigators.

“Obviously anytime there’s a fatality or accident we work with the coroner’s office and we have reconstruction and put the accident scene back together so we can be pretty confident and know exactly what happened,” stated Gillette Police Lieutenant Sawley Wilde.

School officials said six other students were passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. As routine procedure requires, the driver of the bus that hit the boy has been placed on administrative leave and has taken a blood alcohol test, said officials.
