LaPorte Police Officer Injured in Two-Car Crash

A LaPorte police officer sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon, said the LaPorte Police Department.

Patrol Specialist Billy Degnegaard was stopped at a stoplight on Monroe Street before making a left turn onto Lincolnway when he was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Patricia Richard, 62, of Kokomo.

Richard claimed she was unable to stop in time because she was attempting to catch items moving around her vehicle. Richard suffered no injuries.

Degnegaard, who was wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred, was taken to LaPorte Hospital where he was treated and released for head pain.
