Man Crossing Tracks Killed By Train
A man was killed as he attempted to cross the train tracks in Houston, Texas Wednesday night.
The male victim was with two friends when he unsuccessfully attempted to cross a railroad track with an oncoming Amtrak train headed to California at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
According to witnesses, the man, in his 50s, had been drinking and began to walk north with his friends on Fondren towards the tracks with an oncoming train. The man continued onto the tracks despite the activated crossing arms with lights and alarms when he was struck by the train and dragged a few hundred feet.
The man, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, suffered from several blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is being investigated with help from Union Pacific Railroad.
