Man Cut and Killed by Power Saw

A man was killed Tuesday after using an automatic saw at work.

John Kotchey, 58, was cut in the neck by a power saw he was holding when it kicked back. After being flown to a hospital, the worker was pronounced dead.

He was reported to have been using the saw to cut through a water line while working for the Allegheny County Housing Authority.

According to the police, the saw had a safety guard on it and Kotchey was equipped with a mask, eyes and ears protection, and steel toe boots.

The fatal accident is under investigation.
