Man Fishing Killed in Florida Boating Accident
A man was killed in a boating accident Saturday afternoon off the coast of Shell Island.
According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Spokesman Stan Kirkland, the accident occurred at about 4:00p.m. Saturday afternoon. Two men from the Tallahassee area were fishing about 100 yards off the coast of Shell Island when their boat flipped over. Both of the men were not wearing life jackets and attempted to swim to shore.
Archie White, 34, reached the shore and found help. The boat’s owner, Morris Hunter Miller, 55, was not able to reach shore and died in the accident.
White was transported to Bay Medical Center and will most likely be released Saturday night or Sunday.
