Man Killed in Mining Accident
A mine accident in W. Virginia on Monday left one man dead.
William Dooley, 56, was suddenly struck by a rock overhead, while working underground in the Kingston Mining Inc. No. 1 coal mine.
Emergency crews pulled Dooley from the mine and rushed him to Raleigh General Hospital, where he was unable to survive his injuries.
Officials along with federal and state mine investigators are looking into the fatal accident.
The rock had fallen after Dooley was done bolting part of the mine’s roof.
Since the mine began 15 years ago, a fatality has not never occurred.
