Man Killed in North Hampton Boat Accident

One man was killed and another is recovering from hypothermia after a boat accident in North Hampton, New Hampshire Sunday evening.

Christian Frey, 46, of South Hampton, was operating the boat in the ocean off of Hampton Beach when the boat struck a large wave about 50 yards offshore from Atlantic Avenue around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Passenger Barry Arnold, 25, of Plaistow, was taken to Exeter Hospital where he was pronounced dead from hypothermia/cardiac arrest.

Frey was transported to Exeter Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.

According to officials, both men were not wearing life jackets when the accident occurred and were also stuck in the water about 45 minutes before they were retrieved.
