Man Killed in Oak Forest Train Accident

A man was killed when he was struck by a Metra train as he sat near the tracks in Oak Forest Saturday night.

The 31-year-old New Lenox man was sitting on gravel near the tracks as the Metra train pulled into the Oak Forest station at 4850 W. 159th St. The engineer saw the man and applied his brakes but was unable to stop the train in time, striking the man around 11:55 p.m. Saturday. The victim was thrown and died in the accident.

The man’s name will not been released until his family is notified.
