Man Killed in One-Vehicle Accident

A man was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Washington Street West near Dunbar in Kanawha Countyh at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Jerry Mondy, 67, was driving his Chrysler Aspen sport utility vehicle when he drove off the roadway at the 4400 block of Washington Street West, said Lt. Bryan Stover of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.

Prior to the accident, a witness reported a vehicle swerving all over the roadway and called the Kanawha County Metro 911 center.

Mondy, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was ejected from his vehicle. Mondy was killed in the accident.

Washington Street West was closed for about two hours and reopened around 11 a.m.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
