Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident

A man suffered fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident Sunday afternoon in Lee Summit.

Hayes N. Walker, 75, of Lee Summit, was crossing the street near the 1000 block of Northwest Chipman Road in a motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a 1996 Subaru Legacy driven by an 85-year-old female.

The impact of the collision threw Walker from his wheelchair. He was taken to a hospital suffering severe head trauma and was later pronounced dead.

The driver did not suffer any injuries. Charges are pending.
