Man Killed in Roseville Traffic Accident

A young man died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a fatal traffic accident Sunday in Roseville, California.

Joseph Carrel Cowles, 27, of Citrus Heights, was the passenger in the 1994 Nissan four-door sedan that struck a tree on Hickory Street at Church Street Sunday, stated Dee Dee Gunther, spokeswoman for the Roseville police, in a press release.

Roseville police and fire responded to the scene of the accident at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Cowles was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where he died Tuesday morning from the injuries he suffered in the accident.

The driver of the Nissan, a 19-year-old woman from Yuba City, was also transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where she is listed in serious condition, stated police.

The accident is under investigation. Roseville police believe that drug impairment may have played a role in the crash, the release said.
