One of the owners, and a player with the Muskegon Thunder Indoor Football Team in Michigan, was killed in a snowmobile accident Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:23 p.m. Sunday, Adam Pringle, 31, of Moorland Township, was hit broadside by a sport utility vehicle while he was riding his snowmobile at the intersection of Ensley and Sherman roads. Pringle was thrown onto the vehicle’s hood and the helmet he was wearing flew off his head on impact.

Rescue crews from the Fruitport Township Fire Department responded to the scene where Pringle was semi-conscious and had a severe right leg injury. Pringle was taken to the Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus where he was pronounced dead an hour after the crash.

The SUV was driven by Greg Braspenninx, of Egelston Township, and the accident occurred as he was driving east on Sherman Road. Braspenninx said soon after the accident that Pringle seemed to drive right into the path of his truck. “I never saw him until there was an impact,” he said. “There was no time to react.”

Braspenninx; his wife, Christy; his 13-year-old daughter, Meaghan; and her friend, Jenna Rabach, 14; were not injured in the crash.
