Man Killed, Woman Injured in Roll-Over Accident
A man was killed and a woman suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident Monday morning on U.S. 50 in Colorado.
The two were traveling in a 1983 Toyota Landcruiser eastbound on U.S. 50 three miles east of Slaida when the driver, Camilla Brandao De Souza, 21, of Salida, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway. Brandao De Souza over corrected the vehicle, causing it to overturn and strike a tree, then traveling 36 feet before coming to a rest on its left side, said the reports. The accident occurred at 10:18 a.m.
Brandao De Souza, was transported to the Heart of the Rockies hospital suffering from minor injuries.
Passenger, Derek Lemay, 23, of Loma, was killed in the accident.
Both Brandao De Souza and Lemay were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, which is being investigated by the Colorado State Patrol.
