Minor Injuries in School Bus-Pickup Truck Collision

A school bus and a pickup truck were involved in an accident Tuesday afternoon in Clay Township, Michigan. The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. and caused a couple of minor injuries, township police said in a news release.

Thirty-six children were traveling on the Algonac Community Schools bus that was stopped on Marsh Road while it unloaded Millside Elementary School students when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

One 11-year-old girl complained of neck pain and was taken to River District Hospital, where she was treated and released. The 67-year-old driver of the truck complained of chest pains and was also taken to River District to be treated.

The bus, which had its red lights flashing while it was unloading the students, and the truck were traveling northbound on Marsh Road just north of High Road. The accident is under investigation.
