Monmouth Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident

A Monmouth man suffered fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident late Thursday evening.

Lonnie Hardy, 48, was walking northbound across U.S. 34 when he was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound just west of North Main Street.

Hardy was taken to OSF Holy Family where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. Thursday in the emergency room.

Results of the autopsy conducted Friday are pending.

The accident is under investigation by the Monmouth Police Department and Warren County Coroner’s Office.
