Off-Duty New York State Trooper Killed in Bicycle Accident
A New York State Trooper suffered fatal injuries in a bicycle accident on State Route 20 in the Town of Pompey, in Onondaga County Friday morning.
New York State Trooper John Gorke, 47, was off-duty riding his bicycle on State Route 20 when he was struck from behind by a westbound 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Charles W. Brewer, 20, from Cohocton.
Gorke, a 19-year veteran, was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The accident is being investigated by the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit. Charges may be pending.
