Officer Hit by Propellor after Flying off Boat
A Florida officer was injured Saturday when he lost control and flew off of the boat he was operating
The 34-year-old state wildlife officer, Billy Giles, let go of the steering wheel of a 16-foot boat in order to hold onto his hat when it jolted and he fell off.
The boat spun around and Giles was hit by the propeller after being pulled under the water.
The craft went up onto shore and Giles made it to a boat ramp where he could find help.
The officer was rushed to Gainesville hospital, where he remains after undergoing surgery.
