Person Killed in Boating Accident on Jekyll Creek

One person suffered fatal injuries in a boating accident on Jekyll Creek south of Brunswick, Georgia early Sunday morning.

A 23-foot craft collided into the jetties near where the creek meets the ocean south of Brunswick around 4:15 a.m. Sunday. The Coast Guard received a mayday call regarding the incident and a rescue boat crew responded to the scene to find two people in the water.

One person, whose name has not been released pending family notification, was later pronounced dead.

The accident is being investigated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
