Pregnant Woman In Critical Condition After Accident

A pregnant woman is listed in critical condition after she crashed her vehicle into a guardrail on Rte 1-South, on the corner just before the Rte 2 exit in Rhode Island.

Kateie A. Tefft, 23, of Hope Valley was driver a 2008 Toyota Scion on Rte 1-South when she lost control of her vehicle. Tefft hit a guardrail and then drove across the all lanes and off the roadway.

Tefft was taken to a Landing Zone across the highway by Charlestown Rescue where she was airlifted by Life Star Air Ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital’s Trauma Center.

Tefft was 3 months pregnant and was complaining of both abdominal pain and suffered a head injury. While Tefft was en route to the Trauma Center, her condition rapidly deteriorated. Tefft was listed in critical condition.

It is believed that speed may be a factor in the accident. The accident is under investigation.
