A longtime reporter for Rocky Mountain News died Sunday from injuries suffered in a bicycle accident at Chatfield State Park Friday.

James Meadow, 59, lost control of his bike on a hill which caused the accident, according to his daughter-in-law Kenna Meadow. Meadow was flown to Swedish Medical Center where he was unconscious and suffering from broken bones, a collapsed lung and other injuries.

According to a statement by family members, Meadow died Sunday after his condition “deteriorated rapidly.”

A Facebook page was created in remembrance of Meadow by his colleagues. Meadow’s wife, Julie, says the page illustrates how many people cared about him. But she says there are “not enough words to describe how the whole world felt about him.”
