The multiple accidents happened between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. in Kansas City, Missouri. One of the accidents involved an Overland Park police officer that was responding to an earlier accident at Interstate 435 and Antioch Road. The officer suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The snowfall on Saturday night resulted in the slick roads which caused the eleven accidents Sunday. According to a Missouri Department of Transportation snow removal worker, melting snow was refreezing on the pavement and recommended that drivers stay off the roads if possible.

Two separate car accident that occurred on the San Diego Freeway near Culver City and the Golden State Freeway in Castaic caused traffic delays and injured a motorcyclist Tuesday morning.

A big rig carrying a load of paper plates was involved in a collision with a semitruck, causing the plates to spill across the freeway. No injuries were reported but traffic was delayed as authorities cleared the freeway, said Officer Francisco Villalobos of the California Highway Patrol.

In the Palms area of West Los Angeles a motorcyclist was injured when they were involved in a collision with a truck on the northbound 405 Freeway, Villalobos said. As authorities investigated the accident two lanes just south of Palms Boulevard were closed for a little over an hour Tuesday morning. The extent of the motorcyclist’s injuries was not known, Villalobos added.

Two separate Monday morning accidents in Daviess County, Kentucky kept emergency crews busy but did not result in any serious injuries.

The first accident occurred on Highway 81 when a driver ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to sheriff’s deputies. Power was out in much of the area due to the accident, which occurred at about 7:00 a.m. Monday. It took crews several hours to clear the accident scene and regain power.

The second accident occurred as an indirect result of the previous Highway 81 accident. According to deputies, because Highway 81 was blocked, a semi-truck driver was using Highway 554 as a detour. The truck slid off the highway and jack-knifed near Todd Bridge Road. Highway 554 was closed for a short time in result of the accident.

Fortunately, no serious injuries reported in either accident.

The crash, involving 28 passenger vehicles, five semis and one Fishers fire engine, happened after 9 a.m. Tuesday near mile marker 8 just south of the State Road 238 said Indiana State Police.

Of the 34-veicles, two people were found dead inside one vehicle, 11 people were taken to hospitals, at least three vehicles had passengers trapped inside and 5 five people had minor injuries but refused treatment.

“Our goal is to take care of the injured and get them taken care of and take care of the non-injured drivers out of the elements.

A man was found dead in an SUV along Interstate 79 north near Star City, West Virginia Thursday morning. The same evening one person was taken to the hospital after an accident on Interstate 79 south in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Monongalia County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene at mile marker 157, at 7:26 a.m. They found the driver of a 2004 Yukon Denali, Geremiah Giles, 28 of Waynesburg, Pa., dead in the drivers’ seat. Investigators believe that at some time Wednesday night Giles was driving north on I-79 when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a large rock. Giles, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies are still investigating.

Thursday evening police say that as an SUV was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer, just before the rest stop at the mile marker 124, it was cut off by a car. The SUV ran off the roadway, overcorrected its steering wheel and hit the front of the semi. While the car never stopped at the scene, the passenger in the SUV was transported to United Hospital Center. The accident shut down both lanes of traffic, forcing cars onto the shoulder to alternate routes through Bridgeport.
